ABTC’s process begins with strategic de-manufacturing — an automated system that disassembles battery packs with speed and precision, separating low-value components at the front end while preserving the integrity of the critical minerals inside. Those materials then move into a targeted hydrometallurgical process, a low-temperature chemical method that extracts and refines them into battery-grade products ready for immediate use.

The advantages compound. Skipping high-temperature operations lowers capital intensity. High-speed disassembly and material handling shorten processing times. Isolating scrap early simplifies downstream refining and lifts both recovery rates and final product purity. And because the process is chemistry- and form-factor agnostic, it handles everything from consumer electronics to large commercial energy storage packs — so our capacity scales alongside an industry that never stops evolving.

What conventional methods treat as a disposal problem, we treat as a supply chain opportunity. The result is a genuine closed loop: critical minerals recovered domestically, refined to specification, and returned directly to the U.S. battery manufacturing ecosystem.

One of the largest lithium resources in the United States is sitting in Nevada claystone. The challenge has never been finding it — it’s been getting the lithium out economically. That’s the problem our team set out to solve.

Our claystone-to-lithium process was developed entirely in house by ABTC scientists, engineers, and operators. This first-of-its-kind technology extracts battery-grade lithium hydroxide directly from the claystone sediment at our Tonopah Flats Lithium Project, establishing a vital new domestic source for a mineral the American energy economy depends on.

At its center is a selective leaching technique engineered for efficiency, responsible resource management, and real-world economics. It uses significantly fewer chemical reagents than conventional approaches and produces a cleaner leachate with minimal contaminants — which means less waste to manage and a simpler, lower-cost path to a finished product. We’ve already proven it works at scale, producing large demonstration-scale batches of high-purity, battery-grade lithium hydroxide.

That technology is now poised for commercial buildout at Tonopah Flats. When it comes online, a vast domestic resource becomes a secure, responsibly produced supply of battery-grade lithium — strengthening America’s critical minerals independence and powering its energy future for decades to come.

The critical minerals industry runs on trust. Cathode and precursor manufacturers can’t afford variability, so absolute consistency and high purity are the price of entry. We deliver both, batch after batch. Our dedicated in-house quality control team ensures that every gram of material leaving our facilities meets or exceeds the strictest specifications for battery cathodes and precursors.

Making that possible required a structural choice: we embedded advanced analytical laboratories directly on site at our facilities rather than shipping samples out and waiting on results. Our teams get real-time feedback and monitor quality continuously throughout the production cycle — catching variation as it happens instead of discovering it after the fact.
