ABTC’s team developed a first-of-kind, integrated battery recycling system built around a strategic de-manufacturing approach. Rather than relying on conventional recycling methods that use high-temperature furnaces, shredding, or grinding processes, we have engineered a more precise pathway to recover valuable battery materials.
Our proprietary process combines battery deconstruction with a targeted hydrometallurgical, non-smelting technology platform. Batteries are systematically deconstructed from packs to modules, modules to cells, and cells to individual component materials. By strategically separating and recovering materials at each stage, we maximize material value, recovery efficiency, and product quality.
This advanced approach enables ABTC to recover critical battery materials while minimizing waste, reducing energy intensity, and producing high-value products that can be returned to the battery manufacturing supply chain.
Our Recycling Process
From Batteries to Battery-Grade Materials
Our recycling operations are designed to transform end-of-life batteries and manufacturing scrap into high-value products that support a circular domestic battery supply chain.
In the first phase of our proprietary de-manufacturing process, batteries are strategically disassembled and separated into individual material streams, producing products including copper, aluminum, steel, lithium-rich intermediates, and black mass concentrates. These recovered materials are preserved and processed to maximize their value and potential for reuse.
In the second phase, ABTC’s advanced hydrometallurgical refining technologies selectively recover and upgrade these intermediate materials into battery-grade products. Lithium-bearing materials are refined into battery-grade lithium hydroxide, while black mass is further processed to recover battery-grade nickel, cobalt, manganese, and lithium products suitable for reintroduction into battery manufacturing supply chains.
