Our sincere thanks to Recycling Today’s DeAnne Toto of GIE Media, Inc. for hosting the closing keynote with ABTC’s Ryan Melsert at the 2025 Battery & Critical Metals Recycling Conference. We are grateful for visiting our recycling facility and honored by the “The Tone Setters” feature article with CEO Ryan Melsert on the cover of their February publication!
The fireside chat introduced ABTC’s journey of commercializing our battery recycling technology to the BCMRC 2025 attendees and highlighted how we are pioneering the future of sustainable lithium-ion battery recycling through our internally developed, integrated mechanical and hydrometallurgical chemical processes within a single facility. Our single-facility process eliminates the inefficiencies of producing and transporting inconsistent intermediary materials, such as black mass, to offsite locations. Instead, our recycling technologies optimize recovery rates, including lithium extraction during the mechanical phase, and reduces operating costs by strategically removing impurities upfront. Having both our mechanical and hydrometallurgical recycling processes in a single facility, we ensure reactive materials remain securely contained within closed-loop systems throughout the operation. This avoids producing difficult to transport black mass and shipping it elsewhere, ensures higher recovery, including lithium from mechanical stage, and reduces of operating costs when fully ramped.
Our process is strategically designed to maximize efficiency and flexibility. We enhance material recovery and simplify downstream processing by isolating low-value support materials from high-value battery cells early in the process. Our systems are both form-factor and chemistry-agnostic, capable of handling every battery type, from small consumer-grade units to large-scale vehicle and stationary storage systems. This adaptability ensures that our process can scale alongside the diverse and evolving needs of the energy storage landscape.
Through this integrated and forward-thinking strategy, we are setting new standards for innovation in lithium-ion battery recycling. We are not just recycling materials—we are rethinking the process to deliver sustainable, safer, scalable, and economically viable solutions.
